hi i no how u feel its very upsetting to see yes it is possible for him to recover I’ve seen it happen in my family quiet a few times if they get enough help and positive reactions they sort of snap out of it and realise there not only hearting there selves but disappointing the people that are close to them and care for them show him wot options he got i no its embarrassing to go out with them and spend time with them but try it will show no matter wot he is or looks like he is cared for do it now cos it could turn out to be to late plz take it from someone hoe nos and have been there i mist out big time with my nephew because i was to embarrassed to be seen with him but when i realised i cared it was to late he was lying dead in a ditch so plz make the most of it an try to help him

Don’t be mad at him. If you can about him, do your best to help him only. Since you are not his parent, you have no control, so don’t try to do so. Heroine addicts do have chances of recovering, but it will take a long time. If you say that has no chance of being a better person, then I wouldn’t waste time talking about him. It is his life, his choice.
I can tell you care about your cousin alot. With me, I wouldn’t even care about my cousin. If he dies, he dies. It is his life. If he is over 18, it is his responsibility. If he doesn’t care about him, there is no reason that I should care about him. If he is under 18, it is his parent’s responsibility to care for him. So when is it that I am liable for him. NEVER.
But if you have a close relation with him or if maybe he does cause a burden to your family, you better speak up and tell them that it is not fair for you and tell them to stop. You didn’t cause the problem so there is no need to put pressure on you.

Many close friends of mine have been rehabilitated off herion.

If your cousin geniunely has the desire to get clean and make a new life for himself, he will kick it and not look back. The important thing is to give him your love and support as he recovers, and encourage him to attend therapy or group counseling to ensure his success. He may benefit from “in-house” rehabilitation for a period of time.

Additionally, he needs to stop hanging out with people who are still using. This can prompt a relapse in no time. If his family provides a loving environment where he feels welcome and accepted, he will probably want to hang out with you guys more than seeking friendship with people that could put him back in harm’s way.

I knew a Heroine addict, she recovered after 30yrs of abuse. She is still recovering through a Methadone Clinic, she attends meetings 2x a week. I don’t think anyone really recovers, I think you grow stronger from getting beat down to the ground so many times, at least that’s what happened to my friend–after having lost everything, including her morals she found Jesus, and found a better way to deal with her recovery.

Tough Love is the best thing for drug abusers. Don’t be mad, just practice tough love, if he comes around, with some half-baked scheme to get money–SHUT HIM DOWN immediately. My girlfriend, ended up getting caught shop lifting after everyone stoped lending her money.

dont listen 2 him^^, just hold on….he will change….but you guyz will have 2 keep an eye on him 4 a while, he mite get mad @ that, but its for his own good, have faith in him….dont let go of that faith, n dont get to mad @ him, hez probolly doing this 4 negative attention, or for some other reason, find out why, and try 2 resolve it…..

kick him out of the family, make him change his last name, and drop him off in Alaska…
