My boyfriend has been taking methadone for pain pill addiction since Nov 2007. He has transfered clinics and I am glad he has because the first clinic was a joke they gave you as much as you wanted even if you would fail the drug tests. This new clinic as far as he tells it won’t allow you to go over a certain dose and you can’t keep failing the drug tests. What I am wondering is does anyone know if methodone makes people go go go and then crash or make people believe that everyone is against them and very irritable? Sometimes I feel like I am walking on eggshells anytime I open my mouth. Please does anyone have any insight?

I’ve been going thru treatment for a small addiction to marijuana and would like to start looking for a job very soon, but I want to be sure the THC is out of my system before applying to any organization that drug tests. My metobolic rate is extremely high and I have very little body fat for the chemical to be stored so I’m just curious if there is any health org. that will offer a drug screen.

I have a 19 year old son that has been taking most everything he can get his hands on for 7-8 months now. He says he has no addiction, just likes to “experiment” and when he isn’t on anything he’s too depressed to deal with life. I am scared to death that I will be burying him one day. The biggest issue right now, he is INSANE when he’s straight. He has no off switch at all, and talks and talks and talks so endlessly about all of his knowledge and opinions on everything that I can’t have a single thought of my own in my head because he will NOT SHUT UP! I feel desperate to get him into in patient, he is doing outpatient right now, it’s not enough. Thoughts from people who have gone through inpatient or have walked a loved one through it?

I have finally made the long overdue decision to seek help for my addiction. Thus far, I’ve officially inquired about only 1 facility, after checking my insurance, they said it didn’t cover much and pretty much said good luck. I know that my insurance covers up to 7,800 for IP chemical dependency, is that not a lot to work with? I don’t need super fancy, but would like to find one w/ a good reputation that is also somewhat aesthetically pleasing. Are there any organizations that are able to point me in the right direction of prospective treatment centers that best suite my needs, financially and mentally. Due to the severity, AA meetings and/or OP treatment would not be enough initally. I need a complete change of environment and lifestyle. Also, I know that I’ve got other psychological issues to deal with and just quitting won’t be enough, but am aware that it is forefront. Do they even have concurrent programs of that nature? Help, I need a treatment center match-maker!
Thanks everyone. I like the idea of going out of the country but that may be a bit unrealistic for myself. I can’t afford that and I doubt that’s part of the out of network provision. My insurance is through an airline so ya never, but I doubt it.
I will have to google Narconon b/c I have no idea what that is. I’m going to check out the intervention sight and ironically that’s what made me think of a treatment matchmaker. I really thought that admitting this shameful, embarrassing defect would be the toughest part, but I was wrong. I just cannot bare the thought of asking my recently retired parents to spend such a significant amount of money for something that is not even guaranteed. Also, they say those closest usually know and I believe they do to a certain degree but I’ve gone to extraordinary length to hide this. My parents would be so embarrassed and ashamed of me, so I would rather not get them involved.

I have a relative who after 15 years of drug addiction is still unable to kick the habit. He began by using heroin, then got into methadone treatment, then into methadose treatment and is currently taking anti-anxiety medication.
