Is it better for society to separate a genius citizen kid from an alien parent?

What is the Ultimate benefit to society,for the separation of a genius kid from a parent,who is on deportation proceeding for 30 old drug conviction.
The crime is so old that it makes the concept of rehabilitation nebulous.
Please will it be better to place the kid in foster home since the other parent is legally unfit , and the court has ordered this kid must not leave the State?
