I had a serious illness that required treatment with some of the same drugs given to cancer patients. It caused pain that over-the-counter pain relievers did little for, and I couldn’t use narcotic pain killers because my liver was at risk. It also made me nauseous and anorexic, and I felt? like I had the flu 5 days out of 7 for a whole year. I’m a skinny person and I lost 20 pounds in that year despite taking weight gainers (against doctor recommendations) and forcing myself to eat.

@davidlory Yeah hopefully. I posted a brief description of my own experience with it (which is why I actually know those 2 from Canada). I’ve been tempted sometimes to speak up in church about it when someone brings up an opposing view, but I feel too uncomfortable sharing something that personal with some of them. And I also am annoyed with politics being? discussed in church anyway…

Also, hemp is not marijuana (just saying for those who don’t know). They’re related forms of cannabis, about as much the same as a wolf and a poodle. Hemp can’t get you high, but also lacks some of the medicinal benefits of marijuana. But it is one of the only plant sources of complete proteins (proteins that contain all essential amino acids), and it’s loaded with Omega-3′s and unsaturated fats (great for heart health). It’s legal? to buy, sell, and consume in the US, but not legal to grow…

@davidlory Yeah, it? isn’t against the word of wisdom, and you can buy it over-the-counter without ID, just like any other food. I haven’t tried hemp oil, but it’s available. I’ve tried hemp seeds, hemp “hearts”, and hemp powder (It actually tastes good, if you like nuts). Hemp is a tall sturdy plant, while marijuana is short and bushy; but the leaves look similar (that’s the only reason you can’t grow it, which is lame). There’s also a wide range of industrial applications for hemp.

@punchbagJonny It may be the only option to? increase appetite PLUS have the other effects the doctors desires in one medication. It may be the most effective medication, and if it’s more effective than the others, then they could say it’s the only one that has the desired effects.
